BP 7 OMM

Well here is my one minute message using iMovie. Using iMovie is completely new to me. I have enjoyed learning how to use iMovie and will try to use it any way I can for my students next school year.   There is so much to use in iMovie, so it's like a kid in a candy store. I can't figure out what I want to do, or what to use to create the movie.  iMovie is a powerful tool and can be used all kinds of ways. I could get tied up on using and editing with iMovie for hours.

BP 4 GoAnimate

Students using this tool will engage in gaining knowledge of the subjects they are studying instead of being passive learners.  After exploring this website I found this will be useful not only with my CBR but also with all my students.  First this site is like Facebook meets Animation.  You can make friends as you do in Facebook, and it's like a social network site.  You can upload your videos to Facebook, Youtube and so on.  You create Animation that can tell a story of what you learn.  A teacher could use it as an assessment tool.  A student would create a cartoon animation based on what they learned or based on an a question that the teacher proposed to students.

For example if you had a unit on Government, the students could use the Politics and Celebrities channel on the website to answer questions or assessments that deal with subject in Government.  I have tried making a short animation video and found it to be very easy to use.  There is a plus version that you have to pay for added features.  You can register as a teacher and receive extra benefits for being a teacher.  You are allowed over 100 students if not more to use this site without having to be charged extra.

I could use surveys along with this animation site to assess if the students have met their goals in the CBR.  I believe the animation will motivate the students engaged in the research process of the challenge knowing that they have to build an animation proving they have reached the objective.

PE 3 iMovie

I loved the part on how to put in background music. You can still put a voice narration on top of that and  lower the volume of you background music just enough to know it's there but not loud enough to over power your narration.  This background music can make your movies a little more classier or professional.  Below is a short demonstration on how to do that

I really enjoyed watching the videos on Lynda.com on how to use iMovie. I really learned a lot and will go back to the website to review the videos and learn more about iMovie.  I am starting to really like the Macbook computer and Apple software.  Not sure why I didn't get a Mac computer earlier.  It is very easy to use the iMovie once you watch the videos on how to use it. All right I graduated iMovie school, and learn enough to want more!

PE 2 iMovie

For this exercise I tried to use the green screen.  I don't know much about green screen except for that you can shoot a subject in front of the green screen and add any background that you want.  I really enjoyed watching how to do this on lynda.com.  Our school has a video system through out the school that is hooked up to every TV in the classrooms.  Every other week they put together a news cast created by the students and they report on what is going on in the school and the up coming events.  I am going to show them or introduce them to the green screen.
I picked up a video editing program for my PC, yea I know, PC is a bad word around the Apple environment. However, I had a green screen sheet in the box, and never knew how to use it.  Thanks to this course and the website, I now know how to use it.  I think our students who create the news show will love to use it next year.  Below I video taped a quick segment of myself putting together a project that will be due here soon.  Its not the best, but I am getting the hang of how to use it. It's best to do it, than to just read it. I have learned a lot from just trying to get this assignment done.

PE1 iMovie

First of all I found the lynda.com website very useful for learning how to use iMovie. I am very new to the whole Apple experience and Apple computer.  I wish we would have had this course and website for our second course in our line up of courses to help us with our previous projects.

Every have a problem in organizing? I do, and thats with more than just these video clips.  When I started using iMovie in our second course, I didn't have any training at all in organizing clips into favorites and rejects.  I was just skimming through and trying to remember which clips I like and which ones I wanted to throw away.  After watching the section on organizing clips, I found a much easier way to keep clips you want and reject the ones that you don't like.  Below is a short video on what I learned about organizing clips. By the way did you know that iMovie has an "advanced" button? One of my favorite buttons now.
