Students using this tool will engage in gaining knowledge of the subjects they are studying instead of being passive learners. After exploring this website I found this will be useful not only with my CBR but also with all my students. First this site is like Facebook meets Animation. You can make friends as you do in Facebook, and it's like a social network site. You can upload your videos to Facebook, Youtube and so on. You create Animation that can tell a story of what you learn. A teacher could use it as an assessment tool. A student would create a cartoon animation based on what they learned or based on an a question that the teacher proposed to students.
For example if you had a unit on Government, the students could use the Politics and Celebrities channel on the website to answer questions or assessments that deal with subject in Government. I have tried making a short animation video and found it to be very easy to use. There is a plus version that you have to pay for added features. You can register as a teacher and receive extra benefits for being a teacher. You are allowed over 100 students if not more to use this site without having to be charged extra.
I could use surveys along with this animation site to assess if the students have met their goals in the CBR. I believe the animation will motivate the students engaged in the research process of the challenge knowing that they have to build an animation proving they have reached the objective.
Steve, thank you for reviewing Go Animate. It looks like it is a great tool to motivate students by get them to create animation projects. I think that is something they will definitely enjoy.
